The Sancta Catharina combines the elegance of Sangiovese from Montepulciano with the fruity richness of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The result is an expressive red wine that impressively reflects the peculiarities of the Tuscan terroir. Aug on the same level as the "Super Toscany" wines.
In the glass it appears a deep ruby red. The bouquet impresses with intense aromas of ripe blackberries and blueberries, accompanied by floral notes of violets and fine nuances of tobacco, vanilla and black pepper. On the palate, the wine is powerful, harmonious and elegant, with velvety tannins, a balanced structure and a long, persistent finish.
The grapes mainly come from the vineyard La Ciarliana at 250 to 300 meters above sea level. The medium-heavy clay soils give the wine its intense color, full body and excellent aging potential. The expansion will take place during 24 months, partly in barriques and partly in bottle, giving the wine additional depth and complexity.
The Sancta Catharina is an excellent accompaniment to game dishes, braised meat, hearty roasts and mature cheese. A characterful red wine with great storage potential and typical Tuscan personality.
